We have a bit of sad news to report in that Mark Smith (Eb Bass) has decided to leave the band. He was presented with a card from the players and a gift at his last concert last night at Milnrow Cricket Club.

 

Mark has been playing for 21 years since he first started at Wardle High School and he joined our band as he left and has been here ever since. During this time he has been extremely committed to the band, only rarely missing rehearsals and engagements.

 

Mark is leaving to spend more time on his other hobby which is walking and climbing with his wife Shusha who has been a very good supporter of the band. They are however one of the first people to sign up to our new Patrons scheme, details of which will be available on this website sometime this week, so hopefully we will still see them around.

 

Since Sean took over conducting our band, he has always tried to get the best out of the bass section and there is no doubt that they have improved massively in this time to form the foundation of the band's sound and Mark has obviously been a big part of that so he will be sorely missed but everyone at the band wishes him all the best for his future.
