 Return to News

We are happy to announce that Peter Bamber (left) has returned to the band as Acting Chairman after a short break. Peter had still been compering for us but has now also returned to the committee. Welcome back Peter!

Peter's return co-incides with our decision to go ahead with a band trip to Spain this year. The final details are still being arranged by Sean who has a contact out in Spain and then hopefully Peter can work his magic on the airlines to get us a good deal! It is looking likely the trip will be towards the end of August with a couple of concerts hopefully being lined up for us whilst there. More details will follow but needless to say we will again be doing a lot of fundraising between now and then!

Another big welcome to a new volunteer for our band too. John Ashworth (Rhiannon's dad, but don't hold that against him!!) is getting involved with the band, particularly with regards to helping us fundraise. He has several ideas which we will announce on here in time but his first one is going to be a sponsored walk over the 3 Yorkshire Peaks with some of his friends. John's employers, United Utilities, have very kindly agreed to match their fundraising efforts up to a certain limit so we need to get as many sponsors as we can for this event. Further details will follow on this site very soon as a new news article. Thanks very much to John for offering his help and knowing what he's like, I'm sure some of his ideas will also involve social activities for the band too!

We only have one more (busy) week of practising now before the Areas at Blackpool on 9th March. After this, our next full engagement is (after a small group playing at an Easter Wedding) the Mayor's Concert at Holy Trinity Church in Littleborough. Please try to support the event which promises to be an excellent night with bands from Wardle High School and Smithy Bridge also joining us on the night.
